When the plan says: put the tools down
Plumbbyus is built for small, low-risk fixes. These are the signs that mean stop planning and hire a licensed professional. The coach surfaces them on every plan.
Active or uncontrolled leak
Water you cannot shut off, a burst supply line, or any flooding. Close the nearest valve if safe, then call a professional.
Any gas smell or gas part
Leave the area, do not switch anything on or off, and call your gas utility from outside. Never DIY a gas line.
Electrical work
Wiring, outlets, switches, sparks, or anything live. This is licensed-electrician territory, not a small fix.
Pressurised systems
Main lines, water heaters under pressure, or sealed pressure vessels. Stop and call a pro.
Structural damage
Cracks in load-bearing walls, sagging ceilings, or anything that affects the building's structure.
Mold or sewage
Visible mold, sewage backups, or contaminated water need specialist remediation, not a DIY checklist.
- Swapping a visible washer with the water shut off
- Re-caulking a dry, accessible joint
- Tightening a loose handle by hand
- Filling a small nail hole in drywall
These categories carry real risk to your safety, your home, and other people. No informational plan can replace a licensed, insured professional who can inspect the situation in person. We would rather send you to a pro than help you attempt something dangerous.
